MOON MUSIC STUDIO A
The 80m² live room is at the heart of Studio A. With a high ceiling, mostly wooden surfaces and a lively natural response, it is designed for recording musicians playing together in the same space — from jazz ensembles and indie bands to full drum kits and heavy guitars.
The room has character, but it doesn't lock you into one sound. A large selection of movable absorption panels and carefully placed room microphones allows us to shape the acoustics from tight and controlled to open, spacious and natural. This gives us the flexibility to capture anything from a dry, punchy drum sound to a huge, room-filling performance.
An iso booth provides a separate space for vocals, upright bass, guitar and other instruments when isolation is needed.
Our grand piano is a Gotrian-Steinweg from 1865, which has just been fully restored in 2024. The sound is dark and warm and has a nice vintage feel to it. This historic instrument is perfect for jazz recording and can be heard on many of our productons. For upright piano we have a beautiful old Hiller, which has lots of character and sounds especially beautiful when played with felt over the strings. Other keys include our C3 Hammond with Leslie, Wurlitzer 200A, Rhodes 73 and an original Minimoog.
CONTROL ROOM
The control room combines a fast, intuitive workflow with a carefully selected collection of vintage and modern recording equipment. The hybrid setup gives us the flexibility to make creative decisions quickly, while keeping the sound and character of the recording at the centre of the process.
We build each recording chain around the instrument, the performance and the sound we're looking for. From subtle colour to full-on character, the right combination of microphones, preamps, outboard and tape can shape the sound before it ever reaches the mix.
Highlights include our EMT plate reverbs, LA-2A compressor and Studer A800 tape machine. The preamp collection includes over 40 channels from Neve, API, Siemens and SPL, giving us a broad range of flavours and textures to work with.
Monitoring is provided by PSI A-25M main monitors, with Yamaha NS-10s for a familiar nearfield reference.

Studio B: The Moon
Studio B is our production and mix room, and is suitable for smaller and more dry sounding recordings. The room was renovated in 2024 by Audioworkx, resulting in fantastic and nearly flat acoustics. Combined with the PSI A-23M and NS-10M monitoring this makes for a beautiful mix and mastering room. The room was designed with the purpose of production in mind, giving the opportunity to work with the artist in the same room and record vocals, upright piano, guitars or synthesizers.

Studio C: Studer Room
Studio C is a mix room and doubles as the controlroom for studio C. Also renovated by Audioworkx acoustics, the room now has a modern feel and great sound to it. The vintage Studer 904 gives you 32 channels of analoge goodness with great clean sounding low noise preamps and beautiful EQ’s. The desk can be used for recording instruments in studio B, or just for running up to 16 tracks through it for stem mixing.

Studio: MAP (Utrecht)
We are Moon Audio Productions a brand new recording studio at the Berlijnplein Utrecht. Ivo Schot and Wouter Bude started MAP in 2022. We focus on recording and supporting artist and song writers.
